Fiji Diving and Tui Tai Adventure Cruises
Fiji has become one of the world's most popular tropical dive destinations and much of this interest is due to the superb diving in the north around Savusavu, Namena and Taveuni's acclaimed reefs. Here we find reefs ablaze with every colour of the rainbow, as multi-hued soft corals and fish feed in the tidal currents. Add to this clear, warm tropical waters and you have truly world-class diving.

Tui Tai Adventure Cruises, offers an on board professional PADI Dive Operation, offering diving in this world-class dive area aboard her fast 24-foot (7 meter) custom-built dive vessel. There are numerous sites to choose from, the experienced dive staff will ensure that your diving is safe, fun and memorable. SOME OF THE BETTER KNOWN SITES:

THE GREAT WHITE WALL, Kioa
Fiji's most famous dive. A tunnel in the reef leads to a breathtaking drop-off and a wall covered in stunning white soft coral.

ANNIE'S BOMMIES, Kioa
A large coral head covered in soft coral of every colour. With the current flowing, this site is aglow like an underwater Christmas tree and the density of the fish life has to be seen to be believed.

THE ZOO, Kioa
With the right tides, this site is the place to see the South Pacific's bigger marine creatures - schooling barracuda, white tip reef and grey reef sharks and, on those special days, eagle or manta rays.

GRAND CENTRAL STATION, Namena
Namena is a small island preserve surrounded by an enormous barrier reef with the currents sweeping in through passages where GSC is placed. This site is famously lush with exciting pelagic action with hammerhead sharks, manta rays and grey reef sharks not uncommon around the schooling snappers and tuna. This is advanced drift diving through a long current-flushed channel.

FREQUENTLY ASKED OUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1.WHERE WILL WE BE DIVING?

The dives are varied around the day’s anchorage including the world-renowned Rainbow Reef in Taveuni, exploratory diving around Koro Island and wall diving along the Savusavu coast. This area includes the scattered reefs in the Somosomo Strait and the fringing reef south of Vanua Levu out to Namena and Koro. The closest reefs are just 10 minutes away from the anchorages and the furthermost site only 25 minutes.

2. WHAT TYPE OF DIVING WILL WE DO?
The diving is varied with each day offering something new. At the Somosomo Strait at Taveuni the diving is on patch reefs that are fairly shallow (10-22m/30-70 ft) but have challenging tidal currents. At the fringing reef sections along Vanua Levu and Koro it is wall diving with deeper profiles (15-30m/50-100ft). Drift dives are done when site and tides are favourable.

3. WHAT SELECTS THE DIVE LOCATIONS?

TIDES.
Certain sites are best on certain tides. Some sites are done only on an outgoing or an incoming tide whilst other sites are good on both tides.

WEATHER.
The passage dive sites are generally protected from rough seas but can be affected by surge. The fringing reef areas are more exposed and sometimes unsuitable to dive due to rough seas.

4. WHAT IS THE WATER TEMPERATURE, & WHAT EXPOSURE SUIT WILL I NEED?
The two seasons are summer (Nov.-April) & winter (May-Oct.). Summer water temperatures lie in the 27-30°C range (75-80°F), 2mm short suits would suffice. Winter water temperatures are in the 24-27°C (70-75°F) range, 3 or 5 mm steamers would be recommended.

5. CAN I TAKE MY NON-DIVING PARTNER?
We do not take non-divers on most dive excursions as many dive sites are unsuitable for snorkelling. We run separate snorkel trips and arrange these in thee best snorkel areas and times. Introductory scuba experience courses can be arranged.

6. HOW IS OUR DIVE EQUIPMENT ORGANISED?
Guests' BC and regulators are assembled and loaded by the crew prior to guests' boarding the dive boat. After dives, gear will be rinsed and stored by the Tui Tai crew. There is a camera rinse bin ready on your return. We have for rental a large selection of high quality SCUBAPRO BCD'S, Regulators, wetsuits, masks and fins. Rental cameras are also available.

7. WHAT TIME DO TRIPS DEPART & RETURN?
This varies with the day’s activities, but generally the first dive leaves at 8.30am. After the dive, a surface interval will bring you back to Tui Tai for tea and coffee and a break. If you want to do a second dive this will be run after a suitable surface interval. You will arrive back at Tui Tai with plenty time for lunch and relaxation.

8. HOW EXPERIENCED DO I NEED TO BE?
Tui Tai has a variety of dive site choices catering to beginners through to advanced divers. Depending on the state of the tide there can be strong currents at some of the sites, while at other it can be swimming pool like conditions. The best advice is to listen to the dive crew who are the experts and know the sites intimately, and ask them for advice.

9. CAN A DIVE PACKAGE BE PRE-PAID?
In order to offer very reasonable package rates, dives cannot be pre-booked or prepaid. Travel Insurance should cover airline delay, sickness, etc. We do not give refunds in circumstances beyond our control.

10. HOW ABOUT AFTERNOON & NIGHT DIVES?
We run these when conditions and sites permit. Night dives can be extremely memorable as soft and hard corals are feeding then, and the sites have many weird and wonderful creatures only to be seen at night.
